You may only register for one workshop at a time. If registering for multiple workshops, please complete each transaction individually by returning to this page.
Workshops are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
We cannot send workshop supplies to you if you cannot attend the workshop.

Modern Handlettering 101
Handlettering is the art of drawing letters. Join Chicago handlettering artist and calligrapher Michelle Maurer for a fun and creative introduction to modern handlettering where you will learn tips and techniques as you begin your lettering learning. You'll practice serif, sans serif, and script fonts including fun flourishes, and create a card at the end with all the skills you learn during the workshop. This is the perfect workshop for those looking to learn the foundations of handlettering before venturing into pointed pen calligraphy or brush lettering.

The Skill of Memory Keeping
Discover the art of memory keeping in this engaging workshop that combines creativity and mindfulness. Learn what memory keeping is, explore essential elements to include in your journal, and find practical tips to make it part of your routine. The session concludes with a hands-on activity where you'll create your own memory-keeping spread, capturing moments that matter most.
What’s Included? A bundle of goodies including Kiss Cut PET Tape, a guided memory keeping journal with 52 prompts, and stickers and ephemera all designed by Kelsey Doodles and Kubo and Lucy. Each attendee will also receive a raffle ticket and a winner will be chosen at the end of the workshop to receive a special prize from Kubo and Lucy.

Collaborative Zine Making
Participants will learn to make a single-sheet, eight-page mini zine and fill it with content by hand (writing, drawing, collage). Then, the group will collectively decide on a theme and title for a letter-size bifold zine and contribute one page each to the project. Pages will be collected, scanned, arranged, printed, and mailed to participants in a bound volume. Supplies will be provided; just bring yourself and your ideas!
What’s Included? All necessary materials for creating your zine. Participants will receive a printed and bound zine by mail following the event.

Collage Journaling with Stickers
Calling all sticker hoarders! Sometimes we start collecting stickers and do not know what to do with our growing collections. This workshop will allow you to explore creating an art journal with stickers as your inspiration. Makers will have the opportunity to create collage pages in their journal while also learning what art does for the brain.
What’s Included? Includes 8 stickers, paper/images for collage, glue sticks, writing tools, and journals. All attendees will leave with a started journal and stickers.

Secrets from the Ink Collector
Learn the techniques and methods for cataloging and swatching inks. Ana will demonstrate many swatching techniques, strategies for organizing and inventorying your ink collection, and even some fun ways to choose an ink for your next fill-up. Class participants will get to try out many tools and techniques for starting their swatching collection.
What’s Included? A mini ink swatching kit. No additional materials are needed for the class, but feel free to bring a notebook, recent ink acquisitions, and ink samples.

Carve Your Own Rubber Stamps
With nothing but an eraser, similar materials, and a cutting tool, you can make your own rubber stamps to embellish, decorate, and enhance your planner or journal. Please bring simple ideas or images (approx. 1-2” in size) as well as scrap paper and a pencil. If you have your own stamp ink pads you would like to use, please bring those as well!
What’s Included? A carving tool, set of blades, and stamping blocks in a kit. Some paper and black ink pads will be provided for use in class.

Workshops are FINAL SALE and are not refundable, transferable, or redeemable for cash.
Workshop tickets are only available for VIP and 2-Day Weekend Passholders.
Chicago Stationery Fest passes do not include workshops. Workshop tickets are an additional charge.
You may not resell or transfer your ticket.
Workshop materials must be picked up in person and will not be mailed to participants who are unable to attend.
In the event a workshop is cancelled, attendees will be fully refunded within 10 days of the event.
The holder of the ticket grants Chicago Stationery Fest/Paper and Pencil, LLC the right to use their image/likeness as captured on film, video, or any other electronic medium being utilized at the event, and further understands that such images will likely be used to promote future events.
